PROJECT ENGINEER

JC HINES & Associates, a geotechnical design consulting firm specializing in retaining wall technology and design, is seeking a Project Engineer with 0 to 10 years of experience to assist our growing team. The Project Engineer will work in collaboration with the design team providing geo-structural analysis of retaining wall structures on public and private projects throughout the United States. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have strong communication skills, and have a high aptitude for geotechnical analysis and for solving complex problems both on their own and in a team setting

Responsibilities

Review provided construction documents for design information, possible conflicts, and problem-solving options.
Research and apply the design, construction, and materials standard specifications of public agencies.
Utilize common industry computer software programs in the structural analysis of retaining wall structures.
Communicate effectively regarding a wide range of retaining wall issues with team members and customers via telephone and email daily.
Preparation of technical reports and summaries of design calculations.
Preparation of material quantity take-offs and neat quantity summary reports.
Provide final design and preliminary construction feasibility analysis for earth retention wall design applications.
Preparation of technical product submittal documents in compliance with public agency specifications.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering Program
E.I., S.E. or P.E. license is not required, but is a plus
Valid driver’s license
Ability to read and understand construction drawings prepared by others
Proficient with basic aspects of AutoCAD (2D & 3D) and Microsoft Office
Strong English language written and oral communication skills
Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment
Detail-oriented with an enthusiasm for problem-solving
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-based business environment
Model outstanding customer service behavior, including timely and effective follow-up with team members and client firms

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 50 pounds, with a full range of motion
Position requires bending, reaching, stooping, walking, stretching, and sitting
Must have full use of hands
Adequate hearing and eyesight required

The Project Designer will provide project level drafting support for retaining wall designs on public and private projects throughout the United States. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have strong communication skills, and have a high aptitude for solving complex problems both on their own and in a team setting.

Responsibilities

Review provided construction documents for design information, possible conflicts, and problem-solving options.
Research and apply the design, construction, and materials standard specifications of public agencies.

Draft product detail and project specific design drawings for construction in AutoCAD.
Preparation of material quantity take-offs and neat quantity summary reports.

Assist in the preparation of technical product submittal documents in compliance with public agency specifications.
